Student Wellness Committee
Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati
The Student Wellness Committee is an initiative by the research scholars of the Department of Physics, IIT Guwahati, aimed at nurturing a respectful, inclusive, and balanced research environment. It seeks to support the mental well-being and overall welfare of scholars, ensuring that every student feels heard, valued, and supported throughout their academic journey.
Our Mission
To safeguard the mental well-being, academic fairness, and healthy research environment of scholars by providing confidential support, sharing resources, and fostering a culture of respect and collaboration within the department.
Our Vision
The committee envisions a department where every research scholar can thrive academically and personally — supported by an atmosphere of empathy, openness, and respect. It is not merely a channel for grievance, but a community of care built by scholars, for scholars.
Our Objectives
- Serve as a confidential platform where scholars can share their concerns affecting mental or academic well-being.
- Provide guidance, counselling, or mediation as needed, always based on the scholar’s explicit consent.
- Promote a positive and collaborative research culture through dialogue and inclusive departmental activities.
- Help scholars connect with existing institutional resources such as counsellors, wellness clubs, and welfare initiatives.
- Act as a bridge between scholars and departmental authorities, voicing collective concerns that affect the research environment.
