I am a research scholar under the International Joint Ph.D. Programme in Intelligent Mechanical Engineering between IIT Guwahati and Gifu Uniuversity, Japan. My research area focuses on Neurorehabilitation, Soft Robotics and Deep Learning

Human grasps involved in activities of daily living rely on the correlation of multiple degrees of freedom in a hand. This correlation is referred to as grasp synergies and holds promise for efficient control of robotic hands including prostheses and exoskeletons. A number of studies involving human grasping experiments have been reported. However, the approach, lift and hold phases which are intricately linked to the hand grasp for activities of daily living have hardly been part of such studies. My research work includes-

    1. Development of a sensor-based Data Glove which measures hand grasp postures and forces.
    2. A human grasping study which includes the approach, lift and hold phases
    3. Grasp synergies in the force and posture space are identified.
    4. A cross-sectional study to understand the variation in force values across different variables
    5. Design and development of a 3D-printed tendon-driven soft Hand Exoskeleton with flexible material.
    6. Synergy-based control of the soft exoskeleton based on the Assistance-as-Required strategy.
