29 June - 1 July 2026, IIT Guwahati hosted the Vigyan Pratibha three day
residential workshop for Science and Mathematics teachers from Assam &
Sikkim states. Organized in collaboration with HBCSE and Tata Institute of
Fundamental Research, Mumbai, the program focused on professional development
and new teaching approaches for school teachers.
The workshop was inaugurated by
Prof. Salil Kashyap, Coordinator CET, IIT Guwahati. Prof. Deepa Chari
delivered main address, and Mr. Dilip Boro, Joint Registrar & HoS OES,
gave the vote of thanks.

Workshop for Science & Mathematics Teachers From 20 - 22 May 2026, IIT Guwahati hosted the Vigyan
Pratibha threeââ¬âday residential workshop for Science and Mathematics teachers
from Northeast states. Organized in collaboration with HBCSE and Tata
Institute of Fundamental Research, Mumbai, the program focused on
professional development and new teaching approaches for school teachers.
Teachers from state
government secondary schools in Mizoram, Manipur, Tripura, Nagaland, Sikkim,
Assam, and BTC area of Assam took part.
Distinguished resource persons
included Prof. Deepa Chari, Prof. Aniket Sule, Prof. Mukul Mhaskey, from
HBCSE; Prof. Ajit Mohan Srivastava from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics;
Prof. Sumana Dutta from IIT Guwahati; and Prof. Soumen Manna from Institute
of Physics, Bhubaneswar. Their sessions blended practical classroom
strategies, hands on activities, and deeper subject understanding to help
teachers inspire students in science and mathematics.
The workshop was inaugurated by
Prof. Hemant B. Kaushik, Dean OES, IIT Guwahati. Prof. Deepa Chari delivered
main address, and Mr. Dilip Boro, Joint Registrar & HoS OES, gave the

3 Day Residential AI Teacher Training:
Outreach
Education & Skilling IIT Guwahati organized a three-day AI teacher
training in collaboration with Assam State School Education Board (ASSEB). A
total of 70 teachers attended. The resource persons were Prof. S. M.
Hazarika, Prof. Ratnajit Bhattacharjee, Dr. Debanga Raj Neog, and MFSDS &
AI team.
ASSEB has
introduced AI as a subject in 70 schools across Assam as pilot project. This
training helped teachers gain confidence and practical skills to teach AI in
these schools.

Exposure visit program Hon'ble Minister
Bimal Bora MLA Consistuency:
A delegation of
300 students from Dibrugarh district visited IIT Guwahati for an educational
exposure programme. The visit took place under the aegis of Hon'ble Minister Bimal Bora of Tingkhong
Constituency, Assam. The students toured multiple departments and
research facilities across the campus to gain first-hand insight into
academic programme, laboratory work, and ongoing research activities
During the
visit, departmental faculty and staff provided interactive demonstrations,
short presentations, and guided lab tours to help students understand core
concepts and practical applications in engineering, science, and technology.
The programme aimed to inspire higher education aspirations, acquaint
students with career pathways in STEM, and foster links between schools in
Dibrugarh district and IIT Guwahatiââ¬â¢s academic resources.

Exposure Visit from Various
School/College/University:
During 1
January - 31 December 2025, over 10,000 students and guide teachers from
schools, colleges, and universities of North Eastern states visited IIT
Guwahati. They visited many departments and Centre such as Design, Chemistry,
BSBSE, Physics, CIF, Nanotechnology, Polymer, TIC, SART, Drone Technology,
CSE, MFSDS & AI, TIH, School of Health Sciences, Environment, CET, and
Central Library. Visitors saw lab demonstrations, met faculty, took part in
hands-on activities, and attended presentations about research and courses.
These visits helped students learn about higher education, research, and new
technologies, and built stronger links between their institutions and IIT
Guwahati.

Research Base AI Workshop for Delegates
from Royal University of Bhutan:
A five-day
residential Research-Based AI Workshop was organized by Outreach Education
Programme, IIT Guwahati, for delegates from Sherubtse College, Royal
University of Bhutan. The workshop took place from 5 to 9 January 2026 and was attended by 30 participants. Resource
persons from MFSDS & AI group at IIT Guwahati led the sessions.
The workshop
aimed to build research skills, enhance understanding of AI concepts, and
foster collaboration between Sherubtse College and IIT Guwahati. Feedback
from participants was positive, noting the usefulness of practical sessions
and clarity of instruction.

Mathematics Olympiad Training Camp
(MOTC):
Outreach
Education Programme (OEP), IIT Guwahati, successfully conducted Mathematics
Olympiad Training Camp (MOTC) from 29
December 2025 to 2 January 2026. The residential training was held at IIT
Guwahati campus under the special guidance of Prof. Anupam Saikia, Professor
of Mathematics and Dean, Outreach Education Programme.
The camp brought
together talented students and experienced resource persons to strengthen
problem-solving skills, mathematical reasoning, and conceptual understanding
in preparation for national and international mathematics competitions. Sessions
included focused lectures, problem-solving workshops, mock tests and
doubt-clearing.
Out of 40
participants, Mr. Nikhilesh Gogoi
from Shiksha Valley School, Dibrugarh, achieved an outstanding result by
securing Rank 1 in India and World
Rank 2 in Global Mathematics Olympiad. Mr. Arindam Shee from Adharchand Higher Secondary School,
Silchar, was selected for the BS Mathematics program at Chennai Mathematical
Institute (CMI)

2 Day Science Facilitators Workshop:
Outreach
Education Programme, IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with the Assam Science
Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC) and under Government of Assam
Ministry of Science & Technology, successfully conducted a two-day
Science Facilitators Workshop from 18 to 19 December 2025. The workshop
brought together 63 participantsââ¬âscience teachers and facilitatorsââ¬âfrom
across the region. Sessions were delivered by IIT Guwahati faculty who
covered contemporary teaching methods, hands-on demonstrations, and
interactive activities designed to strengthen classroom practice and student
engagement in science.

Shillong Regional Level Science Congress
for JNVââ¬â¢s Students:
From 27 November
to 1 December 2025, Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati, successfully
conducted a five-day residential Regional Science Congress for students from
North Eastern 8 States Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The event brought
together 100 girls and boys for intensive hands-on learning, featuring
multiple practical sessions across science disciplines. Participants engaged
in laboratory experiments, project demonstrations, and guided workshops that
reinforced scientific methods and problem-solving skills. In addition to
classroom activities, students toured several IIT Guwahati laboratories,
interacting with faculty and researchers to gain insight into real-world
research environments.

NCERT AI Bootcamp:
A five-day
residential NCERT AI Bootcamp was organized by Outreach Education Programme,
IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with PSS Central Institute of Vocational
Training, Bhopal. The programme ran from 26th
November to 30th November 2025 and was attended by 50 students
representing the North-Eastern states. Resource persons from MFSDS & AI
delivered the sessions, which combined theoretical foundations with hands-on
practical activities.
The workshop successfully
enhanced participantsââ¬â¢ foundational understanding of artificial intelligence
and practical skills for designing simple AI solutions. Feedback collected at
conclusion indicated high satisfaction with course content.

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya 5 Day
Residential Teacher Training (Science, Mathematics, Computer Science &
Humanities):
From September 2025 to January 2026
Outreach Education Programme, IIT Guwahati, in collaboration with Navodaya
Leadership Institute, Rangia, conducted five-day residential teachers
training for about 500 Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya teachers in Science,
Mathematics, Computer Science, and Humanities across six batches. IIT
Guwahati faculty led sessions focused on hands-on pedagogy, low-cost
experiments, and digital tools to boost classroom engagement. Participant
feedback showed increased confidence and practical classroom application.

AROHAN: (A flagship
initiative of Chief Minister of Assam, started in 2023 and ongoing):
AROHAN is a
flagship initiative of Chief Minister of Assam that started in 2023. From July 2025 to October 2025, about
4,500 students and 1,000 guide teachers visited IIT Guwahati in 12 batches.
The groups also included a medical team, magistrates, and Samagra Shiksa
Assam officials. The main goal of AROHAN is to support Class IX to X topper
students from remote, rural, and economically disadvantaged government
schools. All students and their guide teachers stayed on IIT Guwahati campus
during the visits. While at IITG, the students met and spoke with IITG
faculty members who gave them guidance about future careers.
The program
helped students from underserved areas see possible paths for higher
education and careers.

Residential Mukhya Mantrir Vigyan Pratibha Sandhan:
A 5-day
residential mentorship program was held at IIT Guwahati from 4th to 8th August 2025. Fifty
selected students (25 girls and 25 boys) attended the program under Mukhya
Mantrir Vigyan Pratibha Sandhan, in collaboration with Assam Science
Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC). The program was organized by
the Outreach Education Program, IIT Guwahati ââ¬â Second Batch.
After the
program ended, all students and ASTEC team visited ISRO. Out of 50 students,
three students were also selected to visit Cambridge University under the
guidance of Prof. Anupam Saikia (Dean OEP).

5 Day
Residential Mukhya Mantrir Vigyan Pratibha Sandhan:
100 selected
students (50 girls and 50 boys) attended a five-day residential mentorship
program at IIT Guwahati. The program was conducted by Outreach Education
Programme under the Mukhya Mantrir Vigyan Pratibha Sandhan scheme and
organized in collaboration with the Assam Science, Technology &
Environment Council (ASTEC). Students took part in science sessions, hands-on
activities, and mentoring by IIT Guwahati faculty and staff.
After the
program ended, all students and ASTEC team visited the ISRO facility to learn
about space science and satellite technology. In addition, six outstanding
students from the group were selected to visit Cambridge University for
further exposure and learning under the guidance of Prof. Anupam Saikia (Dean
OEP).

100 selected students from Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya from the entire N.E.
Region participated in the Regional Children's Science Congress-2022 held at
IIT Guwahati. The inaugural function was graced by Prof. S.K. Kakoty, Dy.
Director, IIT Guwahati as Chief Guest, and Mr. Gunamani Das, Dy. Registrar,
IIT Guwahati and Mr. Aditya Prakash Singh, Asstt. Commissioner as Guests of
Honour. The Congress also included visit of students to Central Instruments
Facility, IIT Guwahati and to Regional Science Centre, Khanapara and Guwahati
Planetarium. The Congress concluded with a Valedictory Function with Prof.
P.K. Iyer, Dean, Public Relations Branding & Ranking as Chief Guest.

State Meet of Aryabhatta Science Centre organised by Assam Science
Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC)
Selected students from different development blocks of 34 districts of Assam
participated in the state-level program which had in its schedule different

competition, S&T model making competition cum exhibition, idea
competition, etc. Some of the learned professors of IITG judged the
competitions. Inaugural function of the program was attended by many

INTEL
IITG in collaboration with Foundation for Innovative and Collaborative

About 70 college students from different colleges of Guwahati attended the
problem solving camp on physics which was held for the purpose of building
confidence in them to compete at national level exams like NET, GATE and JAM.
