MISSION


To be a center for studies related to preservation and promotion of indigenous languages of India with special emphasis on North East (NE) India through research and technology development.

VISION


With emphasis to NE Region, the centre will work on digital preservation and archiving, develop resourses to study, develop technologies for usage and promotion, train manpower and to act as a nodal centre of NE languages.

  • To perform digital preservation and archiving of the languages of India with special emphasis on the NE region.
  • To develop resources for studies related to the languages of India with special emphasis on the NE region.
  • To develop technologies that facilitate usage and promotion of the Indian languages with emphasis on the NE region.
  • To train manpower for research and technology development of the languages.
  • To act as a nodal center for language studies in the NE region.

GOAL


Interdisciplinary research and development of linguistics. Digital preservation and archiving of Indian languages. Disseminating information on Indian languages specifically of the North-East. Providing facilities to PhD and Masters students.

  • To provide an ecosystem for interdisciplinary research and development in all areas related to linguistics science and technology.
  • Digital preservation and archiving of speech, text and other resources of Indian languages, with special emphasis on endangered languages.
  • Empowering local communities by disseminating language technology.
  • Encouraging community participation through crowd sourcing.
  • Disseminating information on Indian languages through various media.
  • Technology development for different languages of India specifically for the NE languages.
  • Capacity building through training and providing facilities to PhD and Masters students.
  • To act as nodal center for language studies in the NE region.
