Instructions to Selected Candidates:

Part A: Technical

1. The time schedule for the course is from 9.00 am to 12.30 am in FN and 1.30 pm to 5 pm in the AN on days.

2. As part of the course, there are hands own sessions on latest open source architectural tools (Edumips, Multi2sim, Booksim, Orion, Cacti etc..). It is desirable to bring your personal laptop (if you have) to work on the tools/ simulator that we use during the course. This will help you to install the simulators and make sure that they are working properly before you go back to your respective institutions. The tools will work on Linux operating system (Ubuntu preferred..). So kindly make sure that your laptop has a Linux OS version. For those who are not bringing personal laptops, we can make arrangement for PCS in our lab. Kindly inform us if you are not bringing your personal laptop for the course.

3. Participants are requested to brush up fundamentals of computer organization (instruction sets, addressing modes, pipelining, cache memory & main memory) and basic linux commands, so that it will help in deeper understanding of the course and the simulators.

4. Attendance for all the sessions are mandatory for successful completion of the course. Participation certificates will be issued only for those who attend all the sessions. Those who are visiting Guwahati / North East India for the first time and are planning for local sight seeing, kindly plan them outside the course hours (9.30am-5pm) or before/after the course days. Your cooperation is expected in this regard.

Part B: Logistics

1. All participants are requested to carry your official ID card issued by your respective institutions. This is required for check in at guest house/ hostels.

2. Participants allotted with guest house accommodation will have to pay Rs.375/- per day per person for the guest house room. This will not come under the TEQIP funding from IIT Guwahati. There will be two participants in a room. Guest house rooms are blocked from 29.05.2016 12 noon to 05.06.2016 12 noon for the participants. They can directly proceed to the guest house on 29.05.2016 and tell your name in the reception counter. All rooms are bath-room attached and contains all basic amenities needed.

2. Participants allotted with hostels will will have to report to the security / care taker of the hostel (name of the hostel to be displayed one week before the course). You will be allotted a room with bedding, coat, table and chair. Bucket and mug also will be provided in each room. You have to carry bed sheets, pillow covers and towels for your use. Hostel rooms are blocked from 28.05.2016 12 noon to 05.06.2016 12 noon for the participants.

3. Those who are day scholars can use the IIT Guwahati bus to commute from Guwahati city to the campus and return.

4. Once your travel plan is ready you are requested to inform the coordinator via email. No pick up and drop will be arranged from IIT Guwahati. All participants have to take care of it by themselves.
