Dr. Rashmi Dutta Baruah is an Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati, where she has been a faculty member since June 2014. She received her Ph.D. from Lancaster University, United Kingdom, in 2013, supported by the prestigious Faculty of Science and Technology full studentship awarded to only ten international students.

From November 2021 to November 2023, she was a Marie Curie Research Fellow (Connex-Plus) at Carlos III University of Madrid and for a short period at Robert Bosch Madrid, and Vienna University of Technology. Her research interest lies in working in interdisciplinary areas where AI has potential applications.

The research at the AAI Lab focuses on the foundations and applications of intelligent, interpretable, and trustworthy AI. The lab’s research spans Explainable AI and Model Interpretability, Neuro-Symbolic Reasoning, Multimodal Learning, and Physics-Informed AI, with an emphasis on developing theoretically grounded and interpretable models for complex data-driven systems. The lab also investigates industrial and engineering applications where AI-based methods can support reliable analysis, prediction, monitoring, and decision-making.
