The members of Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) along with their Styling & Design Group, represented by Design Heads and Experts of Automobile Manufacturing Companies visited our Department of Design, IIT Guwahati on 27th September 2023 (Wednesday). Around 10 experts from Automobile industries interacted with our faculty members and students during their visit.

In the very beginning, the Design heads and Experts of automobile manufacturing companies were welcomed in the DOD conference room by HOD-Design, Prof. Sougata Karmakar and the other faculty members. The introductory speech was given by our head of department, followed by the felicitation of the experts with gamochas by our faculty members. The opening remarks on the purpose of the workshop were made by the Chairman of the Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM). He focused on transportation design. After a wonderful, influential interactive session with the faculty members, high tea was served to the expert members. Then the expert members were invited to the EPD classroom (3D Floor, Extension Block, DoD) to interact with the students. A masterclass or workshop for students by Styling and Design Expert Group members was carried out. Students also shared their views and ideas about transport design, and they showed their portfolios to the design experts, and accordingly, a review was done by them.
