  • The paper, "Automatic Polyp Detection in Endoscope Images Using a Hessian Filter" authored by Yuji Iwahori, Takayuki Shinohara, Akira Hattori, Robert J. Woodham, Shinji Fukui, M.K. Bhuyan and Kunio Kasugai), was selected as the "Most Influential Research Paper over the Decade Award" in 18th International Conference on Machine Vision Applications (MVA2023), Hamamatsu, Japan.

  • Appointed as a Visiting Professor, Department of Computer Science, Chubu University, Japan (01.04.2020 to 31.03.2022). LINK      
  • The paper entitled “Polyp Shape Recovery using Vascular Border from Single Colonoscopy Image “, authored by Prof. M. K. Bhuyan of EEE Department of IIT Guwahati, Hiroyasu Usami, Yuji (Chubu University, Kasugai, Japan), Aili Wang (Harbin University of Science and Technology, Harbin, China), Naotaka Ogasawara and Kunio Kasugai (Chubu University, Kasugai, Japan) was bestowed with the “Best Research Paper Award” at the 6th International Conference on Bioimaging (BIOIMAGING 2019), held in Prague, Czech Republic.
  • Fulbright Academic and Professional Excellence Fellowship (Fulbright Senior Research Fellowship 2013-14) to carry out a combination of teaching and research at School of Engineering and Technology, University of Purdue, Indiana, USA.
  • National Award for Best Applied Research and Innovation 2012, Government of India. The award was conferred by Honourable President of India at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi on 6th Feb, 2013.  (Click here for the video)
  • The paper entitled “Dense 3D Reconstruction of Endoscopic Polyp“, authored by Ankur Deka, Yugi Iwahori, M.K. Bhuyan, Pradipta Sasmal, Kunio Kasugai was bestowed with “Best Poster Award” at BIOIMAGING 2018 (PORTUGAL). 
  • The paper entitled “Detection and Classification of Defective Electronic Circuit Boards Using CNN Features and Keypoint Extraction” authored by M.K. Bhuyan, Yohei Takada, Tokiko Shiina, Hiroyasu Usami, and Yuji Iwahori  received the “Best Paper Award“ at the Ninth International Conferences on Pervasive Patterns and Applications (PATTERNS 2017), held in Athens, Greece during February 19-23, 2017.
  • Elevated to the grade of IEEE Senior Member. Only, 8% of IEEE’s members hold this grade, which requires extensive experience, and reflects professional maturity and documented achievements of significance.
  • Fellowship from Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India, for attending (invited talk) Indo-French Seminar on Matrix Information Geometries, Ecole Polytechnique, Paris, France, 2011, and one book chapter was published relating to my talk. 
  • Biography was included in the Who’s Who in America (2009).
  • My research contribution is acknowledged in the SAFE (SENSORS) Strategic Project Review 2007, National ICT, Govt. of  Australia.
  • BOYSCAST fellowship 2006-2007 by DST, Govt. of India.
  • Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) in Engineering and Technology from University Grants Commission (UGC), Government of India during pursuing for Ph.D degree.
