B.Tech.
The program includes courses in the basic sciences, engineering sciences, humanities and social sciences, and a number of electives besides the courses in the principal areas of study in Civil Engineering. The constant effort to modify the academic curriculum strengthens the program continually. The students are groomed to be good civil engineers capable of taking up challenging assignments.

M.Tech. (Structural Engineering)
This program is designed to acquaint the student with the various aspects of Structural Engineering through several courses, both general and specialized, followed by research leading to a thesis. The students are trained to develop expertise in both analysis and design aspects of the structural engineering.

M.Tech. (Water Resources Engineering and Management)
Considering the growing need for technical manpower having expertise both in the quantitative as well as qualitative aspects of water resources, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati, introduced this postgraduate program in 2003. The products of this program are expected to acquire necessary skills to address major water resources problems concerning all forms of its sustainable use. The students are trained to develop expertise in both theoretical and practical aspects of the Water Resources Engineering with special emphasis on Management.

M.Tech. (Geotechnical Engineering)
This program is designed to elucidate the student with wide spectrum of various Geotechnical Engineering problems through several courses, both general and specialized, followed by research leading to a thesis. The students are trained to develop expertise in both.

M.Tech. (Transportation Systems Engineering)
Considering the growing need for technical manpower having expertise both in the quantitative as well as qualitative aspects of Transportation Systems Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati, newly introduced this postgraduate program in 2007.

M.Tech. (Environmental Engineering)
Considering the growing need for technical manpower having expertise both in the quantitative as well as qualitative aspects of Environmental Engineering, Department of Civil Engineering, IIT Guwahati, introduced this postgraduate program in 2007.

Ph.D.
The Ph.D. program is aimed at helping the student to acquire proficiency in the chosen area through course work, followed by doctoral research work. Students typically would be taking up experimental and theoretical research work in major areas of Civil Engineering such as Environmental Engineering and Sciences, Geotechnical Engineering, Hydraulics and Water Resources Engineering, Structural Engineering and Transportation Engineering and Earthquake Engineering.
