The Department of Official Language, Govt. of India is committed to promote the use of Hindi language in all official transactions in the Central Offices of the Indian Union under the provisions of the Indian Constitution. The Government of India expects that all Government officials should have the knowledge of Hindi good enough to transact official communication in Hindi language. In fulfillment of this Official Language policy, the Official Languages Act., 1963 and the Official Languages Rules, 1976 of the Government, the IITG has established the Official Language Implementation Cell under the Registrar’s Office at IIT Guwahati on XXth Month, XXXX, vide BOG Resolution No. XX/XX. The main activity of the Cell is to implement the official language policy of the Government, under the guidance of Official Language Implementation Committee of the Institution. To achieve this goal the institution constructs Official Languages Committee every after two years, which meets in every quarter and takes decision on policy matters and takes follow up action. IIT Guwahati has appointed Ms. Manoshee Neog as Hindi Officer of the Institute, Professor Rajen Kumar Sinha as the Chairman, Dr. Subhendu Sekhar Bag and Dr. Giriss Sampath Setlur as members of the Official Language Implementation Committee for the period 2013-2015, w.e.f. xx.xx.xxxx.
