Laser Cooling & Trapping Lab.

Various Photographs

Welcome to the Laser Cooling Group at the Department of Physics, Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. We are involved in both theoretical and experimental arena of quantum optics.
Laser cooling is done employing the velocity dependent force of light on atom while the trapping is done employing the position dependent force of light on atom. The instruments involved in the laser cooling includes external cavity diode laser (ECDL), laser control electronics, vacuum pumps such as rotary, turbomolecular, ion pump etc., Acousto-optic modulator (AOM), electro-optic modulator (EOM), highly speed photo-detector, computer controlled system etc.
