Guwahati, which is the gateway for North East India, is well connected by air, rail and road with the rest of the country.
There are direct air services from/to Mumbai, New Delhi and Kolkata with connectivity to all major cities in the country.
Direct train services are available from/to all major metropolis and cities in the country.
The Institute is located on the outskirts of the city of Guwahati and can be reached conveniently. It is around 20 km from the heart of the city and around 35 min. drive from the airport. To reach IIT Guwahati campus from the air-port, railway station or any other part of Guwahati city, all modes of transport are available.
Prepaid taxis are available from the airport to IIT Guwahati campus. Taxi fare should not exceed INR 500.00 from the airport to IIT Guwahati campus.
IIT Guwahati also has its own transportation facilities (bus) to ply to and fro from IIT Guwahati campus to the city which start from Guwahati Railway Station (Parked in front of Reserve Bank of India, Guwahati ).

Hired cars are also available from Guwahati city to IIT Guwahati campus. The Taxi fare from Guwahati Railway station to IITG campus is around INR 500.00.
