  • The selection process for the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering (EEE) will be held from 19th May 2025 to 22nd May 2025.
  • The list of candidates shortlisted for the upcoming Ph.D. programme admission interviews (July 2025 Session) has been announced. The applicants can check the results in their respective logins on the Application portal. (Link: https://www.iitg.ac.in/admission/login)

Information Regarding the In-person Interview Process:

  • The interviews for Ph.D. programmes will be conducted through SIX specialization panels (as mentioned below).

  • The candidates are required to fill up their panel preferences form (sent in email with call letter) before May 17, 2025 11:59 PM, in which you will enter at most TWO panel preferences, for which you wish to be interviewed.

  • Please note that the panel preferences must be within the three Disciplines/Specialization as mentioned in your application form only.

  • Only those candidates who have not qualified GATE but have completed their M.Tech Degree are shortlisted for written test and will have to appear for the offline written test (IATMLA) at IIT Guwahati on 19th May 2025.

  • Candidates appearing for offline written exam (IATMLA) will be interviewed by the panels only if you qualify the offline written exam (IATMLA).

  • Please note that, you will be allowed to appear offline written exam (IATMLA) for only one specialization based on the first panel preference, as mentioned in the online panel preference form. However, if you qualify the exam of your first panel preference you can appear for the in-person interview in one more panel, if you wish to do so, as indicated by you in the online panel preference form.

  • Reporting Time for the Written Test (IATMLA): All candidates shortlisted for the written test need to report to Room no. 2201 (Second floor of Core 2, Academic Block, IIT Guwahati) for document verification (documents mentioned in the interview call letter) by 09:00 AM on May 19, 2025. Your written test will commence from 10.00 AM on May 19, 2025.

  • Reporting Time for in-person Interview: The interviews will be held offline for all candidates (including those who have qualified IATMLA). The interviews will commence from May 20, 2025 9:00 am onwards. All candidates shortlisted for the Interview and qualified offline written test (IATMLA) must report to Room no. 2201 (Second floor of Core 2, Academic Block, IIT Guwahati) for document verification (documents mentioned in the interview call letter) by 09:00 AM on May 20, 2025.

  • Please note that interviews can run for more than a day depending upon the number of candidates.

  • The shortlisting criteria for the Regular and Non-Regular studentship categories for Ph.D. admissions are same as the minimum eligibility criteria specified in the institute advertisement for admission to the Ph.D. programme in the Department of Electronics & Electrical Engineering for the July 2025 Session.   • In case you meet the eligibility and shortlisting criteria but your application status in the portal shows "Not Shortlisted" or "Not Eligible", then please send an email to: eeeadmissions@iitg.ac.in with the subject line "Discrepancy in shortlisting for Ph.D. Admissions July 2025" at the earliest.

TRAVEL REIMBURSEMENT, ACCOMMODATION AND MEAL:

Travel Reimbursement
  • Candidates appearing for the Offline Written Test (IATMLA) and qualify it to avail institute assistantship, shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare between hometown and Guwahati, irrespective of the mode (bus/cab/train/flight) the candidate has chosen to travel to Guwahati.

  • Candidates appearing for offline interview and belonging to Regular studentship category shall be provided reimbursement of travel expenses at the rate of to-and-fro sleeper class railway fare between hometown and Guwahati, irrespective of the mode (bus/cab/train/flight) the candidate has chosen to travel to Guwahati.

  • You will need to submit Tickets & proof of payment.The inward journey ticket (Boarding Pass/Train ticket) in original, and a photocopy of the outward journey ticket are to be submitted for reimbursement.

  • After processing, travel allowance will be deposited directly to the candidate's bank account (bank details submitted on online application form will be used). Processing might take up to a few months.

Paid Accommodation / lodging
  • The paid accommodation (if you choose to avail it, only for candidates appearing for offline written test) between May 19, 2025, and May 22, 2025, as mentioned in the call letter issued, will be arranged on sharing basis at the IIT Guwahati hostels only.
  • Please note that this accommodation facility is open only to the candidates, not to any person accompanying them. No other request regarding this matter will be entertained.
  • Candidates need to pay-in advance to reserve their accommodation. More detailed information regarding payments will be updated soon. Please check regularly this webpage for updates.
  • Candidates should submit two printed payment proofs; one at the security desk at the time of check-in by writing their name in CAPITAL LETTER and another needs to be submitted during document verification.

Meal You may avail food at the available hostel messes on a pay-and-eat basis.
