Wish to pursue the Doctoral Programme (PhD) in Robotics or Speech Processing?
Admission to the PhD programme at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering is generally done by a written test and followed by an interview of those shortlisted in the test. These are done to gauge the candidate’s depth in the basics of Computer Science & Engineering and also his/her research aptitude. While the former can be proved by preparing/revising a set of courses and answering them well, the latter (research aptitude) is difficult to judge in the short span of a typical interview.
Here is how we can help!
We can help you by providing a problem or a set of problems a priori and ask you to solve them using the software provided by the lab. With this as a base, you may to quite some extent prove your mettle and aptitude to perform in research in this area during the interview. You will be required to program and solve the given problem(s) and send the solutions back to us to enable us to evaluate them. You may interact freely with all people associated with this lab. while you try to fight your way in solving the problem handed out to you.
While on one side this exercise will aid us in understanding your capabilities, on the other you will benefit from knowing the kinds of problems you will need to tackle, if you are offered the admission. You will of course need to commit to work for the topics within the purview of the Robotics Lab. at the Department of Computer Science & Engineering in case you are admitted.
