Across the valleys and forests of Assam lives a legacy of healing wisdom passed down through generations. At the Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems, IIT Guwahati, we are recording and preserving this treasure of traditional medicine and plant knowledge. Through Project PRATHA, we aim to celebrate and safeguard this living heritage for research, education, and the well-being of future generations.
The PRATHA Project aims to bridge traditional wisdom with modern scientific approaches by recording, studying, and analyzing Assam’s indigenous health systems. We collaborate with local healers, researchers, and students to create a comprehensive digital repository of medicinal plants, therapies, and ethnomedicinal practices.
This initiative is supported by AYUSH, Government of Assam in collabration with Centre for Indian Knowledge Systems (CIKS), IIT Guwahati, aligning with the broader goal of promoting sustainable, community-based healthcare solutions.
