MTech Degree Program in Hybrid mode
Program Highlights
- This program is designed to equip students with advanced knowledge and applied skills to address complex challenges related to water scarcity, climate variability, and sustainable development. Emphasizing integrated and sustainable water resource management, the curriculum prepares graduates to develop data-driven solutions for flood risk assessment, hydrological modeling, and climate adaptation strategies across diverse hydrological and socio-economic contexts.

- Flexible Curriculum : Suitable for the working professionals.
- GATE not needed.
- The program has multi-entry and multi-exit options.
- Students admitted to the program may choose their pace and course of study. A student can register to lesser number of courses than prescribed in a given trimester.
- The program is designed for working professionals for enhancing their skills on flood and water resources management as well as for those who have recently completed their under-graduation (and has at least one year professional experience in water resources sector.
Eligibility and Admission
- Eligibility: 4-year Bachelor's Degree (or Equivalent) in Civil/Agricultural Engineering or Allied Disciplines with at least 60% marks or 6.0/10 CPI.
- Minimum Experience Required: 1 years of professional experience in the water resources sector.

- Candidates will be selected based on an interview/written test conducted by the department
- Test/Interview will be based on the candidate's undergraduate degree syllabus
Program Details
- Duration: Minimum duration of the program is 2 years. It may be extended up to 5 years.
- Trimester System: There will be 3 terms each year, i.e., a Trimester-based system. Each term will have a minimum of 12 weeks of instructions. A minimum of six trimesters is required to complete the program.
- Credit Requirement: Minimum number of credits required to complete the entire MTech program : 110 credits.
- Multi-Exit System: The students may exit at various points by earning the respective certificate after the successful completion of the required coursework. Following multi-exit options will be made available to the students:

Teaching and Assessment
- Teaching: Fully Online. Medium of instruction is English. Each instruction week will cover recorded videos, live teaching, and discussion hour. Most of the teaching will be done by the faculty members of IIT Guwahati. Some industrial interactions, invited guest lectures, and industry courses/certificates will be made available as part of the degree curriculum.
- Assessments:
- Online continuous assessments throughout the trimester, comprising:
- Final examination at IIT Guwahati for each course at the end of each trimester.
- Practice Assignments, Graded Assignments, Quizzes, Term Projects.
