  • Eligibility: Passed the Class 12 (senior secondary) examination or equivalent with a minimum score of 60% (overall/aggregate) from your country's or province's education board or a recognised university. Open to applicants from science or non-science backgrounds — no subject or stream restriction.

      • Applicants eligible to appear in JEE (Advanced) — having registered for it in any year — receive direct admission, without needing the Mathematics Essentials course or qualifier test.
      • All other candidates must complete the Mathematics Essentials online course and pass the qualifier test (2 hours, 80 questions; +1 for correct, 0 for wrong or unattempted; proctored online).
      • The qualifying examination evaluates aptitude and basic mathematical understanding required for the program.
      • Final admission will be based on institute admission criteria and qualifying performance.

Program Details

  • Duration: The BSc (Hons.) degree requires a minimum of 4 years (up to 8 years). Students may exit earlier with a Certificate (1 yr), Diploma (2 yrs), or BSc Degree (3 yrs) as per the multi-exit system.
  • Trimester System: There will be 3 terms per year. Duration of each term is about 12 weeks. A gap of about two weeks will be provided after each term.
  • Credit Requirement: Total 299 credits for four-year BSc (Hons). The credit load per trimester ranges from a minimum of 0 to a maximum of 43 credits, requiring about 18–20 hours of student effort per week.
  • Industry Internship / Term Project: Total of 18 credits, completed in three parts of 6 credits each. Internships can begin from the third year onwards, after completing courses up to the 6th trimester.
  • Capstone Project: Total of 36 credits — students can undertake a single project or multiple small projects. Capstone projects begin only in the fourth year, after completing all courses up to the 9th trimester.

Teaching and Assessment

  • Teaching: Fully Online. Medium of instruction is English. Each instruction week will cover recorded videos, live sessions, and discussion hour. Most of the teaching will be done by the faculty members of IIT Guwahati. Some industrial interactions, invited guest lectures, and industry courses/certificates will be made available as part of the degree curriculum.

    • Continuous Assessments throughout the trimester will consist of practice assignments, graded assignments, quizzes and term projects.
    • Summative Assessment at the end of each course in online or offline mode.
