The Media Lab is an interdisciplinary centre within the Department of Design, IIT Guwahati.
Started with a primary focus on audio, video, new media and technology, the lab now also works within the fields of speculative design, indigenous knowledge, cultural analysis and pedagogy. It is a site of non-formal learning practices that follows a ‘research by practice’ methodology and strives to achieve a creative use of new technologies by providing a collaborative environment for research and experimentation at the intersection of art, technology, and culture.
The Media Lab in IITG is an interdisciplinary research laboratory which conducts thematic and ontological research to investigate the role of digital technology in our societies and explore innovation at the conjecture of technology and design. Media Lab currently works in the following domains:

Mriganka Madhukaillya, the founder of the Media Lab, has conducted research and taught at many universities worldwide. He was a DAAD Visiting Professor at Merz Akademie, Stuttgart and a visiting professor at the China Academy of Arts in Hangzhou. He offers the following courses in Media Lab IIT Guwahati:
