The Department of Design (DoD), one of the eleven departments at IIT Guwahati, was set up with a vision to enkindle some of the brightest technical minds of the country with a passion for innovation in technology, driven by a firm understanding, appreciation and celebration of design. IIT Guwahati was the first Indian Institute of Technology to start the bachelor and the PhD programmes in Design in 1999 and 2001 respectively.
