Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is organizing a national conference on “Recent trends in the study of compact objects: Theory and Observation” during 11th March to 13th March 2013 at the Department of Physics. The aim of the conference is to bring together a group of researchers from all over India to discuss theoretical and observational progresses toward the understanding of accretion disc and jet around compact objects. In the meeting, participants will present the latest results on the theoretical modelling, numerical simulation and observational study of compact objects and provide newer directions of research.

The scientific program will consist of invited talks, oral and poster presentations. Local hospitality will be provided to all registered participants. Limited travel support will be available for deserving participants who do not have financial resources. Proceedings will be published after the conference.

      Taxies, prepaid taxies, hired cars are available to reach the Institute.
    From the Railway Station:

      IIT Guwahati has its own transportation facility to commute between IIT Guwahati campus and Guwahati city. The bus to IIT Guwahati campus starts from Pan Bazar Water Tank (PBWT) in front of Don Bosco Church, Panbazar (walking distance from Guwahati Rail Station). For bus timings click here.
