Livelihood Enhancement through Agro Rural & Novel Technology (LEARNT)

Since its inception in 2016, the School of Agro and Rural Technology (SART) at IIT Guwahati has been addressing the Agro and rural technology challenges faced at the stakeholders' end through its research and academic activities. It had been providing customized technological interventions to the Rural mass. A recent imprinting step in the journey of SART is its association with "Cadila Pharmaceuticals Limited (CPL holding LLP, Ahmedabad, India)" via a CSR-funded project. CPL Holdings will provide the school with financial support (Rupees one crore) for three years. The financial support will be used for the implementation of a project entitled Livelihood Enhancement through Agro Rural & Novel Technology (LEARNT). The project implementation spectrum will span innovations and customization of technologies for the farm sector and interventions in processed food and agriculture products. LEARNT will help step out some of the indigenously developed products/services for the agro-rural sector beyond geographical boundaries. The project will also address problems identified at the niche in Gujrat and beyond. The handholding will also take up outreach and capacity-building activities for farmers as well as of other institutes and stakeholders connected with rural agriculture.
