Codes for Big Data: Error Correction for Distributed Storage

Abstract:

The need to reliably store large chunks of data has brought with it, fresh challenges to the field of coding theory. In this talk, an accessible overview of the new classes of codes that have arisen to meet the challenge will be presented, with an emphasis on the more recent developments and a bias towards contributions by the speaker's own research group.
