Session 1: "Tutorial Talk on Software Define Radio"
Software Defined Radios are increasingly being used for research on next generation wireless systems, as well as for teaching wireless communication concepts. With demonstrations, this tutorial explains SDR basics, architecture of SDR, and implications of SDR architecture in implementing various communication schemes.

The attendees for hands on workshop will get to work on an SDR unit to implement wireless communication with over-the-air signals! You can also interact with live Wi-Fi signals, FM transmitter, slide changer etc.

Speaker Biography :
Raviteja Chivukula is a Staff Technical Marketing Engineer with National Instruments. He is a graduate in Electrical Engineering & VLSI from IIT Madras. Over the past 5 years, he has worked with NI in various roles and has been actively involved in configuring, consulting and teaching in the fields of Software Defined Radio, Wireless Test, Robotics and Industrial Motion control. He has worked with engineers working in the above fields in configuring and architecting solutions based on NI platform. He is passionate about teaching and worked as a visiting faculty at PSG College of Technology – Coimbatore, where he conducted an interdisciplinary course on System Design to undergraduate students from EEE, ECE, EIE and ME departments. As a part of his role, he is actively involved with Industry & Academia and has conducted over 50 educational workshops / seminars on the topics mentioned above. Avichal Kulshrestha is a Staff Technical Marketing Engineer at National Instruments. He graduated as an electrical engineer from NIT, Allahabad and then joined National Instruments as an applications engineer. At NI, he has configured and supported multiple systems deployed in critical automated test applications. He is a certified LabVIEW developer and has conducted over 40 tutorials and seminars in the fields of SDR, Radar Testing and power electronics. He is also a member of IEEE and IEEE COMSOC. He has published several articles and papers in various journals in the areas of wireless prototyping and RF test. He is strongly connected with academia in terms of supporting research & teaching and is a guest faculty at CIT, Coimbatore where he is involved in a course on Communication System design. Tripuraneni Varun is an Applications Engineering Specialist (RF) with National Instruments. He has worked on various projects with NI's academia and industry customers in the field of Wireless communications. Varun graduated from IIT Madras with a Bachelors of Technology in Electrical Engineering, and joined NI as an Applications Engineer in 2011. In the first year he technically supported more than 300 customers, and gave classroom training to more than 80 of them on NI technology. Over the past 3 years, he developed application focus on RF/Wireless Communication systems & Semiconductor Test systems. Currently, he works with NI customers – including industries such as Qualcomm, and academic institutes such as IITM, IITKGP and IITH, wherein he supports RF Test, Measurement and SDR based research applications.
