Resource Generation for Academic and its Amenities

Preamble:

IIT Guwahati needs to continuously enhance the academic (teaching-learning) environment

♦ By improving the amenities,
♦ By developing exciting and innovative initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students, and
♦ By appreciating/ rewarding initiatives of talented students and faculty members.

It requires adequate fund or resources in a sustainable manner to initiate and continue above mentioned activities forever. Therefore we need to generate fund or resources through philanthropic contributions from well-wishers.
The Academic Affairs Section would like to put efforts for the first two points, namely,

♦ Improving the amenities and
♦ Developing exciting and innovative initiatives for undergraduate and graduate students.

Improving the Amenities:

The Academic Complex is to be made into a lively place with world-class infrastructure and amenities that would be available 24x7 manner so that

♦ The students love to stay in academic complex and spend their time in learning and creative activities in a comfortable manner, and
♦ The faculty members can carry out their teaching and research activities more effectively and more comfortably.

In this regard, it is proposed to invite contributions / donations for specific purpose / targets from the well-wishers, including the graduating batch of students.

Developing Exciting and Innovative Initiatives for Undergraduate and Graduate Students:

♦ Summer Internship Programme on Specific/ Targeted Projects with financial support.
♦ Travel support for attending conferences for Undergraduate Students and MSc & MA Students (Those who are not receiving scholarships from the Institute).
♦ Financial support for needy students for continuing their studies.
♦ Awards to reward exceptional and innovative achievements by the students.
♦ Supporting activities like Senior students helping Junior students in academic learning (Peer Assisted Learning, Mentor-Mentee Program, etc.)

Aids/ Donations:

The aids/ donations can be small or large and it can be towards restricted/ targeted purpose or for unrestricted purpose. The contributions / donations can be in the form of money or gift. The donors can contribute individually or in a group or batch. The donors can be students or graduating students or alumni or current and retired faculty members or any well-wishers including private companies, public limited organisations, trust etc., Donors will be duly acknowledged.

Short Term Goals/Objectives

1. Small metal bridge (to cross over AC line ) to connect corridors(East and West side) to the open space between Core1-2 and Core 3-4, Four units, each unit will approximately cost 40000
2. Fountain at the front(right side) of the Core 4 entrance and sitting place around that, approximately cost 500000
3. Concrete bench around the existing fountain at core 1 and 4, each unit will cost 5000 approximately
4. Wall-mounted panels in the study lounge area, the price will vary based on the size and panel material
5. Paintings (Nature/Portrait of Inspiring Personalities/any relevant) on the corridor walls, based on the size, price will vary
6. Glass panel partition around the cafeteria area (up to 3 feet height) each core area cost about 100000
