The Tangsas inhabit
the south-eastern portion of Arunachal Pradesh in Tirap
district. Their inhabitation extends to the Tirap and the
Namchik rivers with the Patkoi ranges in the south and Assam
in the north. The Tangsas comprise of five sub-tribes namely,
Ron-Rangs, Mosangs, Khemsings, Lungris and Yogils. It may
be further added that the Tangsas literally means hill people.
that they have their
original place in a hill called Masoi-Sinrapum in Burma
from where each clan followed different routes to reach
the present place.
