While taking rounds of the class, I noticed that some of you have
a handicap in mathematical methods. Specifically, in analytical geometry,
calculus, vector calculus etc. These are the tools of physics, without
which, this course may seem somewhat difficult. I suggest, to those,
who are weak in these topics to learn/update/practice using some
textbooks like Arfken or Schaum Series books. Practice a lot of problems.
Topics to learn by yourself:
- Orthogonal Coordinate Systems
- Vector Calculus (including line, surface, volume integrals)
- Ordinary Differential Equations (Second Ordered, Linear)
- Partial Differential Equations (Though we will cover some aspects in
this course)
