You will be provided with
the study materials needed for the camp. Free food and lodging in the hostels
of the institute for the period from 25th May to 22nd June will be
provided. You are expected to be here by the evening of 25th May. Note that the
travel cost either by normal bus or train in sleeper class in the shortest
route from and to your institution or hometown (whichever is nearer to
Guwahati) will be reimbursed. Limited transportation by buses from the city to the institute is available as per the following timings: 6:45am, 8:00am, 8:15am, 10:00am, 12:00 noon, 1:00pm, 2:00pm, 3:00pm, 4:00pm, 5:15pm, 6:45pm, 7:30pm, 8:15pm and 8:45pm. These buses leave for the IITG main campus from the place just opposite to ‘Hotel President’ near Panbazar Overbridge (near Lakhtokia). You will be able to locate a signboard for IIT bus pickup point on one side of the road. This place is about half a km from Paltanbazar bus station and the Guwahati railway station. Since it is difficult to get transportation to IITG at odd hours, it is advisable to plan reaching Guwahati during 6 AM to 8 PM. All the buses mentioned above pass through Maligaon, Adabari and Jalukbari, and one can also avail the bus service at the specific bus stops at those points. Please note that it takes around 15 to 30 minutes for the buses to reach these points from Panbazar. On your arrival in the campus, please report to the security desk at Kapili Hostel (for boys) / Subansiri Hostel (for girls). The buses have stops for these hostels. Your boarding will be in these hostels and you will be provided a room with a table and a steel cot. Hence, you must bring your own bedroll, which should include a light mattress, a pillow and a mosquito net. You should also bring a lock. Since it usually hot and rainy in May-June, you are advised to bring an umbrella along with. You are also requested to bring with you a letter from one of your teachers of your college on the college letterhead certifying your present course of study. |
