About The Course

Over the last few years the development of various smart materials for the applications in nanotechnology has emerged as the science of all things in small. Advances in nanotechnology integrate all branches of engineering and science that deal directly with device components ranging in size between 1-100 nm. Nanotechnology has the potential to c hange every part of our lives. Nanotechnology affects all materials: ceramics, metals, magnetic materials, semiconductors, polymers, composites and biomaterials, which are the foundation of major technological advances. Nanotechnology will have an enormous impact in the upcoming decade. Presently commercial applications of nanotechnology have been in consumer electronics, sunscreen lotion, self - cleaning windows, strain-repellent fabrics, bouncy tennis balls etc. Future advances could change our approaches in manufacturing, electronics, IT and communications technology making previous technology redundant and leading to applications which could not have been developed or even thought about, without this new approach. The developments of devices that are minia turized, light, self-contained, use energy efficient are anticipated as the benefits of nanotechnology revolution.

Eligibility Criteria

The course/event is open to Faculty members/Students from TEQIP mapped Institutions/Engineering Colleges/ATUs. No course fee is charged. TA & DA for the eligible participants will be reimbursed from their respective institutions.

Selection Criteria

Number of seats:30.
Selection will be based on First cum first served basis and subject to the deposition of refundable fee (Rs 2000.00) in the form of demand draft in favor of Registrar, IIT Guwahati, Guwahati, Assam 781039.


Accomodation based on nominal charges (per day) will be avilable to all participants at IIT Guwahati campus. Student participants will be accomodated in boys / girls hostels. Participants from academic, R & D institutes and industry will be accomodated in IITG guest house on twin sharing basis. Partipants need to borne their own accomodation and fooding expenses. At hostels all arrangments such as bed, mattress, toileteries will be made available. For more information please contact the course coordinator.
