About Us

The Centre for Excellence In Nanoelectronics & Theranostic Devices is established with a vision to develop devices for the betterment of society. We have developed the state-of-art fabrication and characterization facilities at the Centre for Nanotechnology, IIT Guwahati, which is first of its kind in the North-East region of India. Provisional space to house the fabrication and characterization facilities for hosting instrument is ready. Detailed structural plan for a cutting-edge cleanroom has been prepared and under construction.

Our areas of Research

Currently we are focusing on nanotechnology, nanomaterials, Nanosciences, energy, enviroment, health care, theronestic devices, computational science.

We have in total, 15 devices are under research and development. Among these, 5 devices are under commercial prototype development phase.

  • Optical-Accu-check Glucometer

    A commercially available device that detects blood glucose level using colorimetric technique. Useful for diabetic patients to monitor blood glucose in daily basis.

  • Dr. Morepen Glucometer

    A commercially available device that detects blood glucose level using electrochemical technique. Useful for diabetic patients to monitor blood glucose in daily basis.

  • Digital Amylase Meter

    An electronic device that detects the concentration of α-amylase in blood harnessing the colorimetric technique. This device can be employed for early detection of pancreatitis.

  • Crystalline Nanoscale Assembly

  • Digital Multi-diagnostic Platform

    An electronic and digital platform to integrate different diagnosing devices such as amylase, glucose, lung disease in a form of cartridge to a single device. This device can be a solution of future POCT devices having multi-diagnosing capability.

  • Lung Monitoring Device

    An electronic device that detects lung condition by measuring peak flow rate, tidal volume FEC and FVC of the user after analysing the forceful exhaled breathing. This device can be employed for early detection of different COPDs.

  • MEMS Lung Monitoring Kit

    The proposed commercial design of the lung function monitoring kit indicating different parts and attributes. This device can be employed for early detection of different COPDs.

  • Kidney Function Monitoring Kit

    An electronic device that detects the concentration of albumin and creatinine in blood and the ration of albumin to creatinine (ACR) harnessing the colorimetric technique. This device can be employed for regular monitoring of kidney function.

    Our Facilities

    Molecular Printing System

    This equipment is mainly used for surface patterning of organic and inorganic material

    Mask Writer

    This equipment is mainly used for prepare masks for microscale patterns.

    FESEM

    Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscope (FESEM) is a microscope that works with electrons (particles with a negative charge) instead of light. It is used to visualize very small topographic details on the surface or entire or fractioned objects.

    AFM

    AFM is used for imaging a sample and to measure surface potential, morphology, electrical properties and etc. of different type samples.

    Confocal Microscopy

    The equipment is used for Imaging, Z-stack, Airyscan mode imaging, Spectra analysis, Live cell imaging, Bleaching experiments and FCS can be done using confocal microscope.

    Raman

    To develop thin films applied to a wide range of domains, from sensors and electrodes used in biomedical and energy sectors to thermo-optical applications in aerospace domains

    Electro Spinning Device

    Electrospinning is a highly versatile method to process solutions or melts, mainly of polymers, into continuous fibers with diameters ranging from a few micrometers to a few nanometers.

    RF Magetron Sputtering

    To develop thin films applied to a wide range of domains, from sensors and electrodes used in biomedical and energy sectors to thermo-optical applications in aerospace domains

    Laser Micro-Machining

    Femtosecond pulse LASER machining device for micro-patterning on material surfaces

    DC Probe Station

    The equipment is used for four probe temperature controlled DC characterization equipment for measurement of IV characteristics of semiconductor devices.

    Double Sided Mask Aligner

    This equipment helps in high precision single and double sided alignment. It also aids in wafer-to-wafer alignment for wafer bonding applications.

    Thermal Evaporator

    The equipment is used for Dry and Wet Oxidation process for growing oxide layers of various thickness on the surface of silicon wafers. This is also used for Boron and Phosphorous Diffusion process for doping.

    Oxidation and Diffusion Furnace (ODF)

    The equipment is used for Dry and Wet Oxidation process for growing oxide layers of various thickness on the surface of silicon wafers. This is also used for Boron and Phosphorous Diffusion process for doping.

    NWNTD, Centre for Excellence in Research and Development of Nanoelectronics Theranostic Devices under the aegis of Centre for Nanotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati is organizing a workshop on NEMS/MEMS and Theranostic Devices from 26th February to 28th February 2018. The workshop is targeted to improve the academic awareness on the micro/nanoelectronic fabrication and characterization in the NE region of the country.
