An Interactive Meet with different NGOs on Rural Technology
Organized  by RuTAG-NE in association with SCSTE,Meghalaya

                                                       On 31 July,2007

Dr Gursharan Singh and Dr K Shivanna, two scientists from BARC along with the Coordinator, RuTAG-NE and officials of some NGOs visited Cherrapunji for Spot evaluation of  water scarcity in that area.

  • N-E NGO Meet: An Interactive Meet with different NGOs on Rural Technology in association with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC),Mumbai

Date: 27th June 2008

 

  • Three NGOs from Tripura, two NGOs from Meghalaya, one NGO from Nagaland and nine NGOs from Assam have joined the meet. It is noteworthy that different NGO representatives interacted with the scientists from BARC and RuTAG-NE in one to one basis.
  • Functionaries from NABARD, Assam Chapter , NEDFi, Deptt of Agriculture, Nagaland were present in the meet.
  • Two BARC Scientists were present in the meet
  • AKRUTI Programme of BARC deliberated
  • Selection of capable NGOs for implementation of AKRUTI Programme
  • Eminent personalities present in the meet

 

 

  • Seminar cum workshop on Sustainable development of Mushroom Industry
    (A joint initiative of RuTAG-NE & Mushroom Development Foundation)

    Date: 18th August 2008

The seminar was a jointly organized by Mushroom Development Foundation (MDF) and RuTAG - NE and was sponsored by the ASTEC and NEDFi.

Vision:

To establish an innovative economic system among the farming community bridging the gap between the farmers and the growing market and in building their capacity to participate in the market economy by using mushroom as a tool
Focus areas:
   Main focus is Economic Development and other areas as per the following order:
  • Community Development                                         

  • Health & Nutrition Education and Awareness  

  • Women Empowerment          

 

  • Workshop & Demonstration-cum-Technology Transfer on Rural Technologies 

 organized jointly by CSIR laboratories (IMMT-Bhubaneswar, AMPRI-Bhopal, NEIST-Jorhat) and SCSTE-Govt. of Meghalaya

  • Participated in the UGC sponsored National Seminar on “Relevance of Traditional Knowledge System for Sustainable Development with particular Reference to NE India”

Venue: B Baruah College, Guwahati

  • Ø A paper on “Sustainable Development of Rural Sector in the North-East India” has been presented
  • Ø  The role of RuTAG-NE towards sustainable development of rural areas has been emphasized

 Training:

Training on Production of cost effective Sanitary Napkin

                                                            

Five women participants from Shanti Sadhana Ashram, Guwahati (an NGO dedicated for upliftment of rural people) joined a training programme on Cost Effective Sanitary Napkins at Gandhigram Trust, Gandhigram, Tamil Nadu. The training programme was organized by RuTAG-Tamil Nadu from January 29, 2007 to February 3, 2007.
