    We are very happy to inform you that the SECOND EDITION of the International Conference on Advanced Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (ICANN-2011) has been successfully concluded on Dec 10, 2011. We express our gratitude and beleive that our success has been achieved through your active and excellent contributions in the conference. We hope that ICANN-2011 has been successful in offering an excellent and open forum for the exchange of ideas and for deliberations among academia and industries, on the latest of research accomplishments and also to cultivate academic partnerships among the professionals.

    The conference was represented by around 400 participants. In addition, 7 plenary talks were delivered by leading experts in the field and a total of 345 papers (through invited talks, oral and poster presentations) by the delegates from 15 countries and 9 areas were covered in 21 sessions.

    We, once again, express our gratitude to the speakers and attendees. We are looking forward to having your equally enthusiastic support and participation in future.

    nd International Conference on ‘Advanced Nanomaterials and Nanotechnology (ICANN-2011)’ is being organized jointly by the Department of Physics and Centre for Nanotechnology at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG), India during Dec 8-10, 2011. This is going to be another major international conference being held in the North-Eastern region of India, in the area of Nanoscience and Nanotechnolgy. The international conference intends to bring the eminent scientists, technologists and young researchers from several disciplines across the globe together to provide a common platform for discussing their achievements and newer directions of research. The ICANN-2011 conference is focused on Advanced Nanomaterials for nanoengineering and recent advances in nanotechnology, covering fields from theory and experiment to applications of nanostructured materials in technology. The scientific program will consist of plenary sessions, invited talks, oral and poster presentations.

    The conference will deliberate on the frontier areas of Nanoscience and Technology that include:
