ACADEMIC DETAILS
Centre for the Environment offers PhD programme intended for the
students who are interested in carrying out distinguished scholarly
activities in the interdisciplinary domains of environmental issues.
Apart from research excellence, the program envisages comprehensive
development of students for leadership in science and engineering in
both industry and academia. We focus on the development and execution
of a high quality research project. Each student admitted to the
program has one/two advisor/advisors, who along with the faculty
advisory committee, provides guidance essential to the development of a
meaningful program of PhD research. The students finally must present
the results of their study and research in a dissertation. The students
have to take four to six theory courses in the first year before
engaging into the research work. Rest of the duration of the program is
devoted to research.
Each annual academic session of the Institute consists of two
semesters. The first semester starts late in July and the second
semester starts early in January. Admission to Ph.D. programmes is made
at the beginning of first as well as the second semester on the basis
of written test / interview conducted by the Centre. Applications are
invited from candidates by advertising the programmes twice in around
April and November in each year on Institute website and in leading
