Digital communication technique is the backbone of all communication systems of the present day world. The short-term course on Digital Communication Techniques aims at revisiting the underlying principles of these techniques and its applications for various wire line and wireless communication systems. Besides, the course is planned to provide information on latest areas of research on digital communication those require further investigation such as fading channel communications, ultra wideband systems, mobile communications and other important communication systems. Such topics will be discussed at length to motivate the participants to go for active research in those areas.

Course content
Review of digital communication principles and systems, Coding for communication, Wireless communications, Advanced topics on Fading channels, UWB communications, Satellite communications, Mobile communications etc.

Faculty members of Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering, IIT Guwahati will deliver the lectures for the course.

Course Material
Short notes, slides and reference materials will be provided on CD/printed form.

The course is open mainly to the teachers of Engineering colleges and polytechnics approved by AICTE. No course fee is charged for participants sponsored by AICTE approved institutions. Eligible participants from other government departments and industries have to pay a course fee of Rs 2500/- and Rs 5000/- respectively, per person and they must meet the TA and DA from their own organization. The payment is to be made by demand draft on any Nationalized Bank in favor of QIP, IIT Guwahati, payable at Guwahati.

Financial Assistance
A limited number of participants from AICTE recognized institutions will be eligible for sleeper class railway fare* via the shortest route from the place of work and free lodging and boarding during the course period. Candidates attending the course in full only will be eligible for TA and DA. For all others no TA/DA will be paid.

  • Please note that Tatkal reservation charges will not be reimbursed.

Boarding and lodging facilities will be provided for the selected candidates from AICTE approved institutions in the student's hostels or guest house of the institute (depending on availability)
