M.Tech Programs

1. Signal Processing

The M.Tech program is aimed at providing a deeper understanding of the mathematical, theoritical, practical and application aspects of signal processing area. The curriculum comprises of subjects related to the signal processing area under the broad categories of mathematics for signal processing, fundamental and advanced topics in signal processing, and applications of signal processing in communication, image and video processing, computer vision, biomedical signal processing, speech and audio processing areas.

The students will be studying the theory and laboratory courses in the above mentioned categories during their first and second semesters. This will be followed by a research based project work spread across third and fourth semesters and is aimed at developing new signal processing methods and systems useful for communication, image, video, biomedical, speech and audio processing. Thus, the students get a deeper understading in the signal processing area and also a training to carryout research work.

3. Power and Control

The main reason to introduce power and control in curriculum, is the growing need of trained manpower in the power sector which, coupled with advanced control applications, holds key to future technology solutions in the energy domain. Backed by a strong faculty strength in the combined disciplines of power and control (at present around 10), the proposed postgraduate program will be more inclusive in nature and as such has full potential to flourish in terms of academics and research in this combined area.

4. Communication Engineering

The department has started this new M.Tech. program (Specialization: Communication Engineering) from July 2010.

5. RF and Photonics

The department has started the M.Tech. program with specialization in "RF & Photonics" from July 2015. The M.Tech. in RF and Photonics offers academic training and research expertise in RF and Photonics engineering ranging from microwave passive and active devices to optoelectronic integrated devices. This group of specialization also offers pre-requisite courses for the students joining Ph.D. in the area of RF, microwave, optoelectronic and optical communication.
