Traditionally, it has been accepted that effective learning occurs with a display of knowledge and having the students engage in activities that make them think about the course content and transfer it to newer situations. Workshops and lectures are an educational rendezvous emphasizing on the interaction and exchange of information among its participants and the speakers.

Marketing Event ADdict
‘Doing business without advertising is like winking at a girl in the dark. You know what you are doing, but nobody else does.’
Ever wondered how advertisements work and how they play a major role in
the success of any business. EDC-IITG brings to you 'ADdict' - the
ad/marketing contest. One thing that you can be sure of is that you
don’t need a prior knowledge or experience in the ad-mad world while
you advertise the concept, plan the media mix and do the likes. The
team which impresses our judges and the consumer jury the most will
win. Creativity and out of the box thinking are what count here.
Break Free – Unleash the leader within you - Dr. DEBASHISH CHATTERJEE
Venue : Senate Hall, IIT Guwahati
The event kicked off with master-piece instrumentals played in the
background, setting the stage for an intellectually stimulating
session. Dr. Chatterjee then went on with his lecture starting with
questions that stirred the spiritual side of the audience. He asked “If
we eat to live, what is life for?” The talk was better assimilated by
the audience, with interesting visuals and video-clips, which quite
effectively drove home the point. Dr. Chatterjee instantiated the
qualities of a leader with examples and short stories; highlighting the
need for being a part of the problem, if we were to understand the
intensity of the problem. The event concluded with a questionnaire.
A talk on Reverse Engineering by Mr. SHEKHAR KULKARNI
Date : 17th October, 2007
Venue : Senate Hall, IIT Guwahati
Reverse engineering, has at its core, inspiration driven work in any
field. Following something similar on the Japanese lines, reverse
engineering is adapted to help the budding technocrats build
enterprises and produce technical goods of relatively good quality in a
lesser timeframe. The esteemed chief-guest started off in a humorous
and captivating style, stressing the need of reverse-engineering
techniques in our country. The line between inspiration-driven fruitful
work and mere plagiarism was quite meticulously implied in the talk.
Several ironic and humorous instances of the past were quoted to
underline the importance of the adaptation. The suicide of Mr. Diesel,
the inventor of the diesel engine is an example. Reverse–Engineering is
a field of which most of the student community is ignorant. The field
offers a lot to be exploited. Mr. Shekhar also briefly made aware the
audience of the different terms in patent policies. Sir concluded his
guest lecture with a verbal questionnaire.
