Goals of the Centre
To provide an ecosystem for interdisciplinary research and development in all areas related to linguistics science and technology.
Digital preservation and archiving of speech, text and other resources of Indian languages, with special emphasis on endangered languages.
Empowering local communities by disseminating language technology.
Encouraging community participation through crowd sourcing.
Disseminating information on Indian languages through various media.
Technology development for different languages of India specifically for the NE languages.
Capacity building through training and providing facilities to PhD and Masters students.
To act as nodal center for language studies in the NE region.
Applicants are provisionally shortlisted for written test, interview and statement of purpose presentation for Admission into the PhD programme of CLST as per advertised criteria and field of interests of the applicants.

CLST promotes interdisciplinary research focusing on language analysis and technology development. The centre is founded on the idea that a balanced blend of different disciplines enhance the quality of research. The centre is involved in digital preservation and archiving of linguistic resources and in training manpower to promote such efforts. PhD admission applications are now invited from individuals adapt in working towards their PhD degrees with an interdisciplinary focus.

Master’s degree in Engg./Tech. in CSE/ ECE/ EEE or equivalent/ Master of Design with minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
Master of Science in CSE/ IT/ ECE/ Physics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Speech and Language Pathology/ Audiology or equivalent with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
Master of Arts in Linguistics/ any language with specialization in Linguistics/ Language Studies or equivalent with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engg./ Tech. in CSE/ ECE/ EEE or equivalent/ Four year Bachelor’s degree in Design with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% marks.
Four-year Bachelor’s degree in Engg./ Tech. in CSE/ ECE/ EEE or equivalent/ Four year Bachelor’s degree in Design with a minimum CPI of 7.0, from any of the Centrally Funded Technical Institutions.
Four-year Undergraduate Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent), with postgraduate qualification in relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks.
A two-year Post-graduate Diploma in Design (NID/ CEPT or equivalent) with first class at Bachelor’s level.
