THE FIFTH ANNUAL CONFERENCE OF COGNITIVE SCIENCE

Perceiving the Reality

Center for Linguistic Science and Technology, IIT Guwahati

About ACCS:

Cognitive Science is a rapidly growing domain of scientific enquiry in India, comparable to nano-, bio- and information technology. In order to bring this community under one umbrella, the association was formed in the year 2013, few years after the Government of India, through Department of Science and Technology started the Cognitive Science Initiative. In the last four years, the Association met for the annual conference at IIT Kanpur, IIT Gandhinagar and University of Hyderabad, this year the conference comes to the North East of India in a big boost to the scientific community working in related areas here.

The fifth Annual conference of the Association for Cognitive Science in India is slated to be held in the month of October, between 10th and 12th, 2018. This year the conference will be hosted by Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati. Along with invited talks, we will have paper presentations, poster sessions, symposia etc.

About IIT Guwahati:

IIT Guwahati is among the relatively new IITs, located on the picturesque bank of the mighty Brahmaputra River, surrounded by small hills and home to lush green landscape and blue lakes.

Objective:

The aim of the proposed conference is to foster interaction among graduate students, early career researchers and faculty members engaged in research in Cognitive Science. The themes will broadly cover as many fields within Cognitive Science as possible and we will invite papers from domains as varied as computer science, signal processing, HCI , psychology, Linguistics, philosophy of mind and so on. This ever expanding domain offers exciting research and innovation opportunities for the future generation of researchers. IIT Guwahati being a premier technical institution will try to add new and innovative dimension to this interaction in terms of participation of newer areas. Prominent researchers from the field will deliver keynote addresses and we will also invite oral and poster presentations. Hosting this event in IITG has the added advantage of bringing this new domain to the students from various institutes of north east India and offer them an opportunity to benefit from the same.

Proposed themes:

All areas within Cognitive Sciences, including but not limited to:
  • Cognitive Science of language
  • Psychology of cognition
  • Neural basis of cognition
  • Computational basis of cognition
  • Human computer Interaction
  • Psychoacoustics
  • Speech Recognition
  • Cognitive Systems etc.
  • Authors should consider submitting original and previously unpublished work. These submissions will go through a peer-review process. It is therefore required that your submissions be anonymous while avoiding explicit self-referencing in the submitted text.
