Welcome. We at Environmental Engineering are a vibrant group of faculty, students and scientific officers, working closely with one another in the pursuit of academic excellence. We are committed to employing scientific methodology and knowledge as a means of preserving nature from human pollution. Our research spans the treatment of water and wastewater, through to air quality modeling, to solid waste management. Our undergraduate and graduate students work in a state-of-the-art laboratory, exploring exciting questions related to the acidification of surface waters, to discharges of waste gases from thermal power plants, to the composting of water hyacinth. We strive to provide our undergraduate students with the requisite tools to predict the behaviour of pollutants in natural systems and to design appropriate remediation technologies. We train our graduate students to view nature with the eyes of an environmental engineer and to think and work independently. Our faculty thoroughly enjoy working with young minds in the effort to solve problems that require answers right now.
Facilities
The Environmental Engineering laboratory provides you with the infrastructure to work on cutting edge research. Our instrumentation includes an Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer, a Laser Particle Size Analyzer, an Ion Chromatograph and a uv-visible Spectrophotometer. Our undergraduate laboratory classes provide students with hands on experience on standard methodology and tests in Environmental Engineering, which are often useful in answering research or industry related questions. Should you choose to work with us, we shall make every effort to ensure your smooth progress.
