Major Research Areas

The main areas of research in the Department include synthetic inorganic chemistry, newer reagents and methodologies, investigations related to bioinorganic and organometallics, synthetic and mechanistic aspects of organic and inorganic transformations, selective catalytic transformations, structure and property novel polymers, synthesis of natural products, chemistry of heterocyclics, carbohydrates, peptides, nucleic acids and combinatorial chemistry. Research in the department is also done on thin films, biomimetic membranes, asymmetric synthesis, organic materials, laser chemistry and theoretical studies on molecular dynamics. Nanotechnology and supramolecular chemistry are another two active areas of research in the department.
