About Us

The Department of Biosciences and Bioengineering at the Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IITG) was established in November 2002 to contribute to the fascinating and emerging areas of biological sciences. The Department is unique in North-Eastern India, imparting quality education and providing an excellent research environment through its ongoing programmes. It imparts training for students to make them competent, motivated engineers and scientists. The department has developed extensive state-of-the-art facility to support the ongoing teaching and research initiatives.

What is Our Goal?

The major focus of Bioprocessing India 2017 is to showcase and highlight the recent innovations in development of bioprocess strategies towards healthcare, alternate energy development and waste management. BPI 2017 aims to establish a synergistic platform for academic and research activities in bioprocess engineering perspective. To that end, exclusive sessions will be dedicated for industrial participants in the focussed thematic areas. Such an initiative will necessarily shift academic research towards strategizing for industrial implementations.

Keeping in view with the broader thematic area of the conference, special sessions will be focussed on research highlighting development and innovations in healthcare improvement, production of alternate energy and bioremediation of waste generated as byproducts.

The conference envisages to outreach and cater to an audience of diversified fields and is not limited to bioprocess engineers but transcend to a whole gamut of areas such as synthetic and systems biology, omics tools, molecular dynamics, bioinformatics, chemistry and chemical engineering, biomaterials and environmental engineering. Other major domains are: .

1. Biomass processing
2. Biorefinery
3. Biopharmaceuticals and production of vaccines
4. Industrial enzymes
5. Downstream Processing
6. Food and Nutrition
7. Green Chemistry
8. Bioremediation of industrial wastes
9. Processes and products for environment
10. Biosimilars and Biosubstitutes
11. Biovalue added products
12. Synthetic and Systems Biology for bioproducts
13. Biomaterials Engineering
