Nature In Pixels

Each species found in the wide spectrum of the portmanteau biodiversity i.e. biological diversity has a unique importance so far as its role in the myriad ecosystems of the world is concerned. India, which is a mega diversity hotspot is coming under tremendous pressure that is largely anthropogenic. This needs to be stressed and popularized not just among the experts and academicians but among the teeming millions of India. The appropriate way to do that is to judiciously use the visual communication media. Towards this end IIT Guwahati would have a segment on a harmonious display of relevant and significant photographs and exhibition of short documentaries or presentations, highlighting the threats to the environment and conservation, re-stressing the importance of positive strategizing for maintaining the much needed ecological balance. The main idea is to sensitize people about such conservation issues and thereby bringing the society at large closer to nature.
In light of the significance of such an effort, IIT Guwahati envisage an attempt of communicating with the people by organizing a photography and short documentary film competitions. Participants can send their entries for the respective competition.
