Completed application forms (including signatures from the exchange institute/university) must be received by us at least 2 to 3 months prior to the visit.
Preferred start date for incoming exchange students To avoid accommodation problem we recommend students to avoid visit IITG in the month of July.
Number of exchange students that can be accepted (per semester / year) We should be in a position to handle 4-5 exchanges students or interns per semester from an institution depending on availability of resources. Since this is mainly constrained by the availability of hostel rooms, please contact us early so that we can confirm the arrangements for you.
Semester instruction language All our instructions are in English. Students must be able to cope with that.
Special Benefits given to exchange students Exchange students from institutions which have an appropriate MoU with IITG will not be charged tuition fees at IITG. All other fees must be paid.
Average cost of living per month Between ` 8000- `10,000 (Approx)
Health Insurance A foreign student for full time course at IIT Guwahati provides medical support at par with the National students. Only minor illnesses can be treated at the Institute Medical, for the students visit for short -term/ Internship . Therefore it is advisable to carry an appropriate health insurance that covers the entire duration of your stay at IITG.
Visa requirement Student must have an appropriate Student Visa or Research Visa for the planned study program. The applicant should contact the Indian Embassy or High Commission in his/her home country for more information on the type of visa needed.
